Research Available

The Greenfield Historical Society is happy to research our archives and our own resources to help you find information. Our records and information on file are more general in nature and primarily related to Greenfield's history.

We are often asked for genealogical assistance and we do not normally have much of that information readily available. Some requests may be rather involved and require extensive research on our part to help. If we cannot properly address your request, we may have to refer you to The Southern Ohio Genealogical Society of Highland County to assist in any genealogical request.

For us to research information for you, we require you to complete a Research Request Form detailing the information that you are seeking. There is a $10.00 fee for this service and you must send us the Research Request Form with your check or money order.

  • Our main archives are located at Travellers Rest. That building is open on Thursday afternoons (March thru November), 1-4 p.m., unless other arrangements are made.
  • We have information about each graduating class of McClain High School kept in the Grain and Hay Building.
  • We are unable to offer any internet service in any of our locations, but if you are here and close enough to some of the extablishments offering free WI-FI service you may be able to connect to the internet that way to do online research.
  • We are constantly archiving information and making it easier to access. This is a very time-consuming process, but we are making progress.
