The Greenfield Historical Society and the Greenfield Subway Restaurant sponsor a Cemetery Restoration Workshop at the Sheep Pen Cemetery - June 25, 2016

Scott Andersen, project leader for our own Old Burying Ground restoration project, arranged to have Mr. Mark Morton (Gravestone Guardians of Ohio) present a workshop on repair and restoration of grave markers at the nearby Sheep Pen Cemetery. This was definitely a "hands-on" workshop as Mark discussed various methods used in restoration, but more importantly led the participants in doing the actual work needeed to perform the various methods of repair and restoration.

Although many participants were from the Greenfield area, we had participants from Hillsboro, Reynoldsburg, Chillicothe, Washington Court House, and Stoutsville, Ohio, as well as from Hanahan, SC, and Mt. Upton, NY! It was quite an array of interested folks with a common interest. They all left with a better appreciation of what is required to do quality restorations as well as how to do it.

Lunch break included great food from our Greenfield Subway Restaurant.

Many thanks also to our volunteers who assisted - Venus Andersen, Wendy Royse, Kay Scheeler and John King. More sessions will be planned for the the Old Burying Ground in Greenfield starting in July. If you would like to participate, give the Society a call and check our website calendar for dates and times.

A beautiful day at the Sheep Pen!
