Ghost Walk 2008

The Greenfield Historical Society held its Annual Ghost Walk on October 13th. Five "ghosts" from Greenfield's past told their story to a large audience estimated at 180 people in the Old Burying Ground behind Travellers Rest.

Lucretia Baird was a black woman born in Virginia who bought property in Greenfield in about 1843. Connie Ford portrayed her. Ms Ford is a descendant of Baird.

Danny Long played the part of William Reed who fought in the Battle of Lake Erie under the command of Admiral Perry.

The tale of the Widow McCague was presented by Ann Marie Gunderman. The widow became the fourth wife of Reverend Samuel Crothers, a longtime Presbyterian minister in Greenfield and a strong abolitionist.

Thomas Ghormley was a pioneer farmer and involved in the Underground Railroad. Eric Salyers brought Ghormley to life for visitors.

The story of James Elder Kerr, Sr. was told by Jerry Parker. Kerr was a successful and respected farmer in nearby Buckskin Township.
